I wanted to share an insight that I think can help both personally and professionally.
We are ALL born with innate NEEDS…
We are usually great at knowing what kind of support our kids need but what about our clients? (Mine needs abundant quality time/love/connection).
According to Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs from the bottom upwards, the needs are: physiological, safety, love and belonging, esteem and self-actualization.
Tony Robbins talks about our 6 basic needs in a similar way: certainty, uncertainty, significance, love and connection, growth, contribution.
This means our clients have these same core needs and prioritize them in a certain order. Our job is to know what their top priorities are. These concepts can illuminate key pieces of your brand, product and messaging:
1. It’s a great place to start to uncover your personal values and your brand’s values
2. the values of your ideal customer. *they might not be the same
3. It’s also a great place to start to connect with your WHY for your brand and better articulate that.
4. It can help you communicate how you help people. E.G. “I help people go from confused to clear about the brand they are building.”
5. Your messaging and products should reflect the unmet needs of your target audience so Identify what they are and message to those needs.
I’d love to know which one of these is most important to you???
My top 3 are connection, contribution and uncertainty. In my next email, I am going to be sharing the top 10 things I wish I had known when I first started as an entrepreneur so stay tuned for that…
