I was talking to a client of mine today about starting her new business. She asked me how I knew I was choosing the right business… the answer is that, I tested it! By building a home studio, teaching at other people’s studios first. I tested the market, my passion for the work and my drive to wake up and do it everyday.
I didn’t know I was a good teacher until I became a teacher. I didn’t know if I would love owning a studio until I opened my studio. BUT I had a strong indication before I signed a lease and built out a commercial space. Most people I have worked with over the years just getting started have “can’t pick a lane syndrome.” I have been plagued by it so many times before… fear of wasting time, fear of picking the wrong thing, fear of missing out on the thing I didn’t pick. But with a lot of practice I know the antidote. START… it will never be a waste of time and it will always be a lesson. So if “not knowing” for sure is the obstacle in getting started, how could you be test driving the path to your open road (read freedom and your dream life) with little risk and high reward?
